Engagement and Project Management @ Professional Services: AI Tooling and Customer Engagements

Register

Description

Professional Services is where JetBrains meets its customers in person - a delivery team whose work starts with the customer's problem and ends with it solved.

This internship has two sides, and you will get a taste of both from the start.

The internal side: our AI tooling and automation project. Professional Services runs on a growing set of internal AI agents and automations that take routine effort out of pre-sale and post-sale work - collecting engagement context, discovery checklists, estimation workbooks, timelines, status reporting, contract drafting, internal Q&A. This will be your project to look after. You will talk to the people who use these tools to learn how their work really happens, help decide what is worth building or improving next, and see those changes through. The team is there to build alongside you, and if you have the skills and the interest, you are very welcome to build and improve the automations yourself!

The customer side: live engagements. You will work alongside our Engagement and Project Managers on real customer projects - sitting in on discovery and status calls, helping prepare customer-facing documents, keeping track of scope and timelines, and gradually taking on pieces of your own as you find your footing. It is also the best way to understand the tools you are looking after, because you will be using them yourself.

Our customers are engineering organisations, and so are the colleagues whose work you are helping to automate. A good deal of your time will go into conversations about IDEs, build pipelines and CI/CD - understanding what someone actually needs, and turning it into a clear task for the people who implement it.

Your mentor is the PS PMO Lead, who will get you set up, introduce you around JetBrains, and be available when you get stuck.

This is a good starting point if you are heading towards a role as a Project Manager, Engagement Manager, Product Owner, Pre-Sale Manager, or Consultant. Or if you simply want to find out whether that world of Professional Services suits you.

Requirements

  • Communication. Clear, comfortable, and fluent written and spoken English. You will be asking colleagues questions, writing short status updates, and taking part in customer conversations. If you have already been the person others come to with questions - in a team, a student project, a society, a part-time job - that counts.

  • Technical literacy. Enough familiarity with how software gets built - version control, CI/CD and build pipelines, working in an IDE - to follow a technical conversation and ask a sensible next question. Hands-on development or DevOps experience is a great signal, but not a requirement. If you have worked alongside engineers in another role (QA, support, business analysis, technical writing, developer relations, product) and picked up how they think, that works just as well.

  • Curiosity about AI tools. You use AI tools in your own work - prompting, agents, multi-step workflows - and can show us something you put together. We are more interested in how you use them than in how many you know.

  • Willingness to take things on. You will be trusted with real projects. That mostly means following up, keeping people informed, and flagging problems early rather than quietly hoping they resolve themselves. But most importantly, this means holding accountability for the success of your projects.

  • Working with people you cannot instruct or have formal authority over. You will often need time and input from colleagues who have their own deadlines. Any experience of getting something done by asking well is relevant here.

  • Structured thinking. An eye for how a messy process actually works, where the time goes, and what a small practical improvement would look like.

  • Education. Currently studying or recently graduated in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, Project Management, or something related. A technical degree helps; a non-technical degree plus real exposure to engineering is just as welcome.

  • Self-direction. Happy to work independently with guidance, and comfortable asking for help sooner rather than later.
